WHAT WE DO

The Help America Vote Alliance (HAVA) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization envisioned as the premier training, organizing, and resource hub. HAVA will build and engage a nationwide network of attorneys, organizers, and advocates to champion causes that advance democratic ideals, including the year-round protection and preservation of voting rights.

THE HAVA VISION

BUILD a nationwide network of community-based attorneys and advocates to defend democracy.

EXPAND access to affordable CLE courses focused on justice, democracy, and voting rights.

DELIVER rapid-response information on major legal and political developments.

COUNTER conservative court-packing by supporting judicial candidates who defend democracy and voting rights.

INVEST in the South through intentional, targeted programming.

PROGRAMS

Affordable Continuing Legal Education (CLE)

Attorneys need access to affordable CLEs that meet the moment. Courses will focus on issues related to justice, democracy, and voting rights. These courses will offer opportunities to partner with trusted organizations on specialized topics, such as immigration rights, protecting and representing protesters, and specific topics related to voting.

Legal Rapid Response + Communications

The current conservative administration intentionally “floods the zone” with information and chaos as a method of distraction. Rapid response is critical to reassure voters and help those unfamiliar with election law understand what these orders do and don’t do. HAVA will provide rapid-response information and talking points on major judicial decisions, events, Executive Orders, etc.

Justice Preservation Project

Conservatives have been clear on their efforts to pack the courts. Conservatives control 32 of the nation’s state supreme courts, including nearly every court in the South. Several state supreme courts lack ideological diversity. Approximately 17 courts have zero progressive representation. HAVA will work to counter conservative court packing.

Southern Engagement Strategy

The South is projected to gain 9 congressional seats after the 2030 Census. More than 84% of that growth is expected to come from increases in Black, Latino, and Asian populations. HAVA is dedicated to engaging voters, legal organizations, and activists in this area to combat this predicted increase in conservative leadership.

Voter Purge Education & Protection

With advances in AI technology and improved data standards, providing accessible information on voter purges and other voter trends will be a top priority for progressive organizers. HAVA’s long-term plan is to build a voter purge education and protection program that keeps eligible voters on the rolls.

HAVA WILL:

Train a strong network of informed activists to support voting rights and policy development.
Support legal and judicial candidates who will uphold democratic principles.
Arm the public with the information they need to be voter protection champions.
Develop programming that aligns with our mission statement, purpose, and goals.
